The origins of the town of Nepi Music Band "E.Gai" date back to 1870 and already in 1877, to evidence cultural interest of the town, is issued the first "Regulation of the Music Band" by the town council. From then on, the music band of Nepi have always carried out his activity, mantaining the important music tradition of the town. Excellent music directors followed one after the other and that allowed having good musicians (Enrico Gai was one of music band director died earlier, the music band is dedicated to him). In fact, careful basic training allowed many young player to achieve most important educational qualifications and to reach important professional goals. The Music School of the Town, for want of town council to teach values of art to young people, assures "life blood" to the music band. The managing board of the music band works to increase the values of young people too and every choice is done in order to broaden musical band's horizons. The repertory favours symphonic and operatic music but it doesn't leave aside modern and contemporary music and it is always open to new esperiences as concerto for chorus and band, soloist and band, lead singer and band. The current music director is Gianni Giuseppe Bannetta who is the director of the Music School of the Town too. The survival of the music band is allowed uniquely by love for music, handed on younger generation. That's an absolute value, that can ensure continuance. Everyone can make observations about average age of music player: there are a lot of young people by "veteran" paople (they are young too!). They are not professional musicians. However some musicians are graduated at the Conservatory. The Music Band "E.Gai" ensure repertory counting only on his own: the soloist are "home-made" (they comes from Music School of the Town). The Music Band prides onself on that.
